Giveaways
Giveaways and drops members enter in one go, with requirements, bonus entries, several winners, rerolls, a start later and your own looks.
A giveaway is a message members enter by pressing Enter (on Discord) or reacting with 🎉 (on Fluxer). When its time is up, Dexy draws the winners, posts them under the giveaway and DMs them. You choose the prize, how long it runs, how many win, who may enter, and who gets extra chances.
A drop is the quick kind: the first members to enter win, at once.
Giveaways is on in a new server, but it does nothing until someone starts one. It's free.
Limits#
- 25 giveaways running or scheduled at once per server.
- 1 to 50 winners (a drop: 1 to 10).
- 1 minute to 60 days long, and a start up to 30 days away.
- 200 characters for the prize, 1,000 for its description.
- 10 roles in each requirement, 10 bonus roles with up to 20 extra entries each.
Start one in a line#
Write the channel, how long it runs and how many win (each optional, in any order), then the prize:
d!giveaway #giveaways 1d 3 Nitro
d!giveaway #giveaways 1d 3 Nitro
Left out, the channel is the one you typed in, and the length and winners are the server's defaults (a day and one winner, until you change them). A number like 3 or 3w before the prize is the winners.
Options#
Add any of these after the prize:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
--role @a @b | Members need one of these roles to enter. |
--all @a @b | Members need every one of these roles. |
--block @a | Members with this role can't enter. |
--bonus @a 2 | Members with @a get 2 extra entries. Repeat it for more roles. |
--messages 100 7d | Members need 100 messages in this server (in the last 7 days; leave the days out for all time). |
--voice 60 30d | Members need 60 minutes in voice (in the last 30 days, or ever). |
--account 30 | The member's account is at least 30 days old. |
--member 7 | The member has been in the server at least 7 days. |
--desc text | More about the prize, under it. |
--image link | A picture on the giveaway. |
--color #57f287 | This giveaway's colour, instead of the server's. |
--start 2h | Post it in 2 hours instead of now. |
--ping | Ping the server's giveaway role when it starts (set one with d!giveaway settings ping). |
--drop | The first members to enter win, at once. |

d!giveaway #events 1w 1 Hoodie --bonus @Boosters 2 --account 30 --ping

Messages and voice come from Stats, so they count what Stats has seen in your server.
Build one step by step#
d!giveaway create opens the builder: a preview of the giveaway, and a part for each thing you can set. Prize opens a form for the prize, its description, a picture and a colour; Winners and timing for how many win, how long it runs and a start later; Channel picks where it goes; Requirements has role menus (needs one of, needs all, can't have) and a form for messages, voice and the two ages; Bonus entries picks the roles and how many extra each gets. Ping and Drop switch on and off. Post giveaway starts it.
Your draft is saved as you go, for a day, so you can close it and come back with d!giveaway create. The builder keeps working after Dexy restarts.
d!giveaway create asks for each part in the chat: the prize, how long, how many win, where it goes, and any options (or none). Each question waits two minutes; skip takes the default and cancel stops. Then you see a preview: react ✅ to post it, ❌ to drop it.

On the dashboard, open Giveaways and press New giveaway: the prize, where it goes, the winners and length (or a drop), a start later, the ping, a description, a picture and a colour, then who may enter and the bonus roles, with how it reads at the top. Post it starts it (Schedule it with a start later).
Entering#
By default members press Enter under the giveaway. Dexy answers only them: they're in (with how many entries they have), or why they can't enter yet ("You need one of these roles", "You need 40 more messages here"). Pressing again says they're already in, with a Leave button. The button shows how many entered.
Or members enter with a reaction instead: d!giveaway settings entry reaction. Dexy reacts with the server's emoji; a member who can't enter yet gets their reaction taken off. Taking the reaction off leaves the giveaway (except in a drop).
A giveaway can also look like a classic embed (the default) or a Components V2 card, with the button inside it: d!giveaway settings style v2. Each giveaway keeps the look and the way to enter it was posted with.
Members react with the server's emoji (🎉 unless you change it). If they can't enter yet, Dexy takes their reaction off. Taking the reaction off leaves the giveaway (except in a drop).
DMs when they enter. Dexy DMs each member that they're in, or why they can't enter, naming the server and linking the giveaway. Change the words with d!giveaway settings dmenter and d!giveaway settings dmrefused ({reason} is why they can't), or turn them off: d!giveaway settings entrydms off.
Bots never enter, and neither do members on the server's blacklist. Each entry is one chance; bonus entries add more.
Bonus entries#
A member with a bonus role has more chances to win: with --bonus @Boosters 2, a booster has 3 entries to everyone else's 1. With several bonus roles, the extras add up. Drops ignore bonus entries: the first in win.
When it ends#
At its end time Dexy draws the winners at random from everyone who entered (weighted by their entries; nobody wins twice, and members who left the server are skipped), then:
- edits the giveaway to show the winners,
- posts the server's winners message under it, pinging the winners,
- DMs each winner (unless you turned that off), and the host a summary.
Nobody entered? It posts the no-winner message instead.

Seeing them#
d!giveaway listshows the running and scheduled giveaways first, then the latest ended ones.d!giveaway info 3shows one: its state, winners, requirements, bonus entries and rerolls.d!giveaway entrants 3shows who entered, oldest first, with their entries and who won.
The list has a menu to open any of them, and a giveaway's page has End now, Reroll 1, Cancel and Entrants.

On the dashboard, Giveaways lists them with the time left (the bar empties as the end comes), who won and how many entered. Open shows one in full, with every entrant and their entries, and End now, Reroll or Cancel it.
Settings#
d!giveaway settings shows everything you can change, and how (on the dashboard: Giveaways ▸ How giveaways look and behave, where the blacklist is too):
On Discord three more are yours: the look (d!giveaway settings style v2 for a Components V2 card, embed for the classic one), how members enter (d!giveaway settings entry reaction, or button), and the button's label (d!giveaway settings button Join). The settings panel changes all of these with buttons and pickers.
The texts take placeholders: {prize}, {winners}, {winner_count}, {host}, {entrants}, {server}, {link} (the giveaway's message), {number} and, in the can't-enter DM, {reason}. reset instead of a text puts that text back.

Blacklist#
Members on the blacklist can't enter any giveaway here:

Who runs giveaways#
Members with Manage Server (or a role with the Settings area in role permissions), and members with a role in the server's host roles (d!giveaway settings hosts @role). The settings themselves need Manage Server.
Switching it off#
Turn the Giveaways module off in d!modules or on the dashboard. Running giveaways stop taking entries until it's back on; their timers keep going.
