Server setup
Privacy and data
What Dexy stores, how long it keeps it, and how members can anonymise themselves or delete their data in every server at once.
Dexy counts activity so it can show statistics. It stores numbers and IDs, not what people say. This page explains what that means in practice and what members and admins can do about it. The full policy is on the privacy page.
What Dexy stores#
- Activity counts: per member, channel and hour, how many messages were sent and how long was spent in voice (and in which voice state, such as muted).
- Online status time: how long members were online, idle or on do not disturb, and server-wide totals over time.
- Joins and leaves: when they happened, which invite and inviter brought a member in, and the signals used to spot fake joins, such as how new the account is.
- Member and channel details: IDs, names, roles, join dates, whether a member is a bot, and channel names and categories, so stats can be filtered and labelled.
- Invites: codes, who made them and how often they were used.
- Server settings: the options admins choose, counters, activity roles, auto-mod rules, and an audit log of who changed which setting.
- Moderation cases, if the server uses Moderation: who a case is about, who made it, why and when.
What Dexy never stores#
- The text, attachments or embeds of messages. Nothing Dexy writes to its database, cache or disk contains what anyone wrote.
- Direct messages to other people.
- Games or apps people are playing.
Stats are counted when a message is sent, from who sent it and where. The message itself is never kept.
Event logs and message text#
If a server turns on the Logging module and picks a channel for message logs, Dexy posts the text of deleted and edited messages to that server's own log channel. Nothing is posted anywhere until a log channel is picked.
- A deleted message's text comes from the platform's own notice of the deletion (Discord's or Fluxer's).
- To show what an edited message said before, Dexy keeps recent messages in memory only: at most 100 per channel, 50,000 in all, for at most an hour, and only for servers whose message log is on.
- That memory is never written to a database or disk, is dropped within a minute of the message log being turned off, and is gone whenever Dexy restarts.
- Channels, roles and members a server leaves out of its logs, and bots by default, aren't kept at all.
A log post is a normal message in the server: its admins decide who can read the log channel and can delete posts like any other message.
How long it's kept#
Statistics are kept so servers can look back over time. After 90 days, hourly numbers are combined into daily ones; the totals stay the same.
- Stats stay as long as they're useful to the server. Turning the Stats module off stops message and voice tracking, but stats already collected stay.
- Appeals: what someone writes in an appeal is kept while it's open and removed 90 days after the decision. The decision stays with the case.
- Edited-message memory for logs lasts at most an hour, as above.
- Cached display names expire within hours.
When Dexy is removed from a server, the server's data isn't deleted automatically, so it's still there if Dexy is added back. To have a server's data removed, ask in the support server or email support@dexy.gg.
What admins can control#
Server admins decide what Dexy tracks and shows:
d!settings ignore add #channelstops tracking a channel altogether. On the dashboard: Stats ▸ Settings ▸ Tracking ▸ Ignored channels.d!filterhides bots, channels, members, invites or voice states from every stat without changing what's recorded.d!modules disable statsstops message and voice tracking for the whole server.- Dashboard visibility decides who can open the server's stats on the web. Details about individual members are never shown to people outside the server.
Anonymise yourself#
Any member can hide their stats in every server Dexy is in. It's free and always available.
- Log in to the dashboard. You land on your profile.
- Scroll down to Your data.
- Switch on Anonymise me. Dexy moves your stored stats to a random ID in the background; you can close the page.
While you're anonymised:
- Your stored stats (message counts, voice and status time, your joins and leaves, and the invites you made) move to a random ID, and new activity is recorded under that ID instead of yours.
- Leaderboards, charts and invite reports show you as Anonymous member, and nobody can look up your stats. Server totals stay the same.
- Dexy's member list keeps your roles, so filters and activity roles still work, but not your name or avatar.
- Moderation cases about you, or made by you, and your appeals move to the random ID too.
Dexy privately keeps which random ID is yours, so turning anonymise off moves everything back to you. You can turn it on or off once every 24 hours.
Delete your data#
- On your dashboard profile, under Your data, press Delete… next to Delete my data.
- Type
delete my datain the box to confirm, and press Delete for good. - A progress bar shows how far the deletion has got. It runs in the background, so you can close the page.
In every server, this removes:
- Your activity counts: messages, voice time and status time, including anything recorded while you were anonymised.
- Your joins and leaves, and your entries in Dexy's member list.
- The appeals you sent, with your answers, and you're taken off any blocked-from-appealing lists.
- Your Economy profile: your coins and bank, your items, cosmetics, tools and goods, your farm and crafts, your open trades, your card's About me and colours, and your transactions. Members you gave coins or gifts to keep them.
People you invited stay counted, credited to Deleted user, so a server's invite numbers keep their joins. Moderation cases stay as the server's record of what happened, but your ID in them becomes Deleted user. Server totals go down by your share.
The deletion runs in the background. Follow it with d!privacy or on your profile; asking again is safe. Afterwards, new activity counts as Deleted user, never under your ID, until you turn anonymise off.
Check where you stand#
Your dashboard profile shows it under Your data. In chat, type d!privacy:

This shows whether you're anonymised, when you can change it again, and how a deletion is going.
