Invite tracking
See which invite links bring people in on a chart, keep some links out of it, and what Dexy needs to match each join to its invite.
Invite tracking is part of Stats. Every time someone joins, Dexy records which invite they used and how they joined. The invite chart then shows how many people came in through each invite link over time.
See which links bring people in#
- Make sure Dexy has the Manage Server permission (see below). Run
d!diagto check. - Wait for people to join. Every join from now on is matched to its invite.
- On the dashboard, open Stats ▸ Invites: joins through each invite link over time.
- In chat, type
d!chart invite 30dfor the same chart as a card. Like every chart, react ⏰ to pick another period and 🔄 to refresh.
Quick reference#
| In chat | On the dashboard |
|---|---|
d!chart invite 30d for joins per invite over time | The chart on Stats ▸ Invites |
d!filter invites add abc123 to leave a link out of the chart | Stats ▸ Settings ▸ Filters |
What Dexy needs#
Dexy needs the Manage Server permission to see which invite each member used. Without it, joins are recorded with an unknown source. Dexy also uses Manage Channels to keep its list of invites current as they're made and deleted.
If your server requires two-factor authentication for moderator actions, Fluxer may block Dexy from reading invites. An owner can lower that requirement in the server settings.
Run d!diag to check both.
How a join is matched#
Dexy first asks Fluxer which invite a new member used, which is exact. If that isn't available, it compares invite use counts before and after the join and only credits an invite when the answer is clear. Otherwise the join's source is unknown.
The chart shows the busiest invite links on their own and the rest as Other. Joins that didn't come through a link show by how people came in:
| Source | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Invite links | A normal invite link |
| Vanity URL | The server's custom invite link |
| Bot added | A bot added to the server |
| Discovery | Found through server discovery |
| Added by Fluxer staff | Added by Fluxer |
| Server creator | The person who made the server |
| Unknown | Dexy couldn't tell |
Invite filters#
Leave some invite codes out of the invite chart, or show only some of them:
d!filter invites add abc123
d!filter invites mode whitelist
d!filter invites clear
d!filter invites add abc123
d!filter invites mode whitelist
d!filter invites clear
Live in Discord
Live in Fluxer
Like every display filter, this only changes what's shown. Nothing about the joins themselves is lost.
Joins that probably aren't real#
Dexy marks joins that look fake with one or more reasons, and the reason filter decides which joins the invite chart counts. There are two lists and both can be set at once:
- Leave out joins marked (
hide): joins that match are left out. - Count only joins marked (
only): when it has reasons, only joins that match it count.
d!filter reasons hide add new_account self
d!filter reasons hide match all
d!filter reasons clear
d!filter reasons hide add new_account self
d!filter reasons hide match all
d!filter reasons clear
match any (the default) means one listed reason is enough to match; match all needs every listed reason. d!filter reasons list shows both lists:
Live in Discord
Live in Fluxer
| Reason | Marked when |
|---|---|
self | The member joined through their own invite |
already_joined | The member had joined before (a rejoin) |
new_account | The account is younger than 7 days |
new_member | The member had been in the server less than a day: they left soon after joining, or only just joined |
no_avatar | The account has no avatar |
member_left | The member has left again |
temporary | The invite gave temporary membership |
spammer | Fluxer flags the account as a spammer |
On the dashboard:
- Open Stats ▸ Settings and scroll to Filters.
- Under Joins that probably aren't real, add reasons to Leave out joins marked, or to Count only joins marked.
- Press Save changes.
Troubleshooting#
Every join shows as unknown. Give Dexy Manage Server, then run d!diag. Joins from before Dexy had the permission stay unknown.
The chart is empty right after Dexy starts. Dexy loads each server's invites when it starts. Give it a minute.
A link has fewer joins than expected. A filter may be hiding some joins. Check d!filter for invite and reason filters, and the members filter.
