ModulesEconomy
Economy settings
The five Economy settings (activity pay, economy channels, chat drops, heists, the chance games), who can change them, and turning the module off.
Profiles are global, so a server can't change anyone's coins. It has five settings: whether chatting here pays (activity pay), where economy commands work (economy channels), whether collectibles appear after bursts of chat (chat drops), whether members may heist each other (heists) and whether the chance games are allowed (games). d!eco settings shows all five, with the commands to change them. A server can also run a currency of its own, the server economy, set up with d!eco server.
Changing them needs Manage Server, or a role with Dexy's Change settings permission (see Permissions). Every change is recorded in the audit log. On the dashboard, the settings are on the server's Economy page: pick your server, then Economy in the sidebar, change them and save.
Activity pay#
On by default: members with a profile earn coins for chatting and talking in voice here (see Activity pay). Turn it off with d!eco settings activitypay off, and on again with d!eco settings activitypay on. Daily, weekly, work and the shop keep working either way. On the dashboard it's the Activity pay switch.
Activity pay counts chat and voice through the Stats module. With Stats off, nobody earns for activity here; d!diag warns about it, and so does the dashboard's Economy page, with a button to turn Stats on.
Economy channels#
By default economy commands work in every channel where Dexy's commands work. To keep them to some channels, like a #bots channel:
d!eco settings channels #bots
d!eco settings channels #bots #games
d!eco settings channels none
d!eco settings channels #bots
d!eco settings channels #bots #games
d!eco settings channels none
The list is replaced each time; none lets them work everywhere again. On the dashboard, pick the channels under Economy channels; leave it empty for everywhere. Up to 25 text channels. Dexy admins and roles with commands (Use commands anywhere) can use economy commands anywhere. Elsewhere, members are told which channels to use.
Dexy needs to see, send messages, embed links, attach files (the cards) and add reactions in those channels. d!diag checks each one, and says when one was deleted.
Chat drops#
On by default: after a burst of real chat (12 counted messages from 3 or more members within 5 minutes), a collectible appears in the channel and the first member to claim it gets it (see Chat drops). Turn them off with d!eco settings drops off, and on again with d!eco settings drops on; on the dashboard it's the Chat drops switch. Drops only appear in the economy channels when some are set, at most one every 30 minutes per channel, and they need the Stats module, which counts the chat: with Stats off, d!diag warns that no drops appear.
Heists#
Off by default: a heist is a chance-based stake, so each server opts in. d!eco settings heists on lets members stake coins to rob another member's wallet here (see Heists); losses pay the target, part of what moves is burned, and the bank is never touched. d!eco settings heists off turns them off again; on the dashboard it's the Heists switch. Members can always turn heists on themselves off with d!eco heist off, or buy a Bodyguard.
Chance games#
Off by default: coinflip, guess and slots stake coins against the house on a chance, so each server opts in. d!eco settings games on allows them here (see Chance games for the odds, the caps and the policy); d!eco settings games off turns them off again; on the dashboard it's the Chance games switch. The bot's operator can switch the games off for every server at once, in which case the setting can't be turned on and d!diag says so.
Turning the module off#
d!modules disable economy turns the whole module off in your server: its commands say it's off and nobody earns activity pay here. Profiles are kept, everywhere. d!modules enable economy turns it back on.
Settings#
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Activity payecon_activity_pay | Whether members with a Dexy profile earn coins for chatting and talking in voice here. Spam earns no more than a steady conversation, voice only pays with someone else there, and bots never earn. | On |
| Economy channelsecon_channels | The text channels where economy commands work. Elsewhere, members are told which channels to use. | None |
| Chat dropsecon_drops | Whether a collectible appears in the chat after a burst of real conversation here. The first member to claim it gets it, for their collection; spam doesn't count, and a channel gets at most one every 30 minutes. | On |
| Heistsecon_heists | Whether members may stake coins to rob another member's wallet here. A heist stakes part of the attacker's wallet on a chance; losses pay the target, part of what moves is burned, and the bank is never touched. | Off |
| Chance gamesecon_games | Whether the chance games (coinflip, guess and slots) can be played here. They stake coins from the wallet against the house, with the odds shown, a stake of at most 5 % of the wallet, and at most 2,000 coins lost a day. | Off |
